Gender Sensitive Initiatives (GSI)
CRANE’s founding member in Kenya, GSI is a National Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) founded and registered in Kenya in 1993.
Our vision is empowered communities, with a mission to build resilient communities through gender responsive interventions, to enable them participate in sustainable development as they devise solutions to their most pressing challenges using available resources.
GSI’s Strategies:
facilitating adolescent girls to attain their full potential through access to education;
educating the community to utilize available resources while conserving the environment;
promoting community health through information sharing and provision of care;
empowering communities to take civic rights and responsibilities;
building communities of young women to pursue good governance and fight corruption.
We work with Common Interest Groups (CIG) e.g. Self Help Groups (SHGs), Support Groups, Women Groups, Youth Groups, Farmers Groups and Service institutions such as schools and Faith Based Organizations (FBOs), among others in our program design, implementation and monitoring. We offer technical support and training to these groups for long-term sustainability and impact.
